Tis the Season to Give | Spotlight on Operation Smile

There are several reasons that I am madly in love with Christmas. First, I am beyond thankful that God sent His only Son to this earth to save the world and I just love celebrating the birth of Jesus. I also love that it's the season to give. There is something so wonderful about giving and helping others. Nothing makes me feel better than to give unselfishly of myself. Whether it be through volunteering or providing monetary donations, there is nothing I love to do more!

I recently became aware of an International Organization called, "Operation Smile." This wonderful organization is comprised of caring hearts and medical professionals who provide safe reconstructive surgery for children born with facial deformities most often to repair a cleft. Every 3 minutes a child is born with a cleft which often leaves them unable to eat, speak, socialize or smile. In so many cases parents are unable to afford the costly surgery to repair the deformity the child needs to lead a normal life. This is where Operation Smile comes in to help. Thanks to donations by individuals and businesses, along with many volunteers... Operation Smile is able to heal thousands of children each year!

I have highlighted many companies throughout my 2012 Christmas Gift Guide who give back and provide a portion of their profits to help others. I would like to mention another honorable company that not only saves you money when it comes to textbooks, they donate money to Operation Smile each time you rent a textbook from them! I LOVE doing business with a company who gives back and I am proud to support Campus Book Rentals. Renting textbooks is a fantastic alternative to purchasing textbooks and can save you up to 90% off the cost of purchasing from a college bookstore!!! For example, you could purchase Psychology in Modules from a well known bookstore for $135 or you could rent Psychology in Modules from Campus Book Rentals for less than $30! Plus, they donate money to Operation Smile with each rental. It's a win-win!!!

  1. This organization is great! I have heard of it through a club in my high school.
