Green Monster Smoothie

Hello Pinterest Fanatics! What if I told you that you could drink one healthy smoothie a day and see a huge increase in energy, your hair and nails would grow like crazy and your desire for sweets would decrease. Sounds great doesn't it? What if I told you it was made with spinach -- wait, hear me out and you wouldn't taste it at all... in fact, it would be sweet, delicious and easy to make.

Meet the Original Green Monster...

Created by: Angela of Oh She Glows.

I have to admit, I was quite weary of trying a smoothie made of veggies at first - but I was willing to give it a try. And now I'm in LOVE, hooked! Angela nailed it with her Green Monster Smoothie. There are so many yummy variations to the Green Monster, so you will have to check out all the great recipes at: Green Monster Movement

I will guide you on my favorite version along with how to prep these for easy blending.
You will need:
Protein Powder (I prefer Vanilla, Chocolate is great too!)
Nut Butter (I prefer Almond or Low Fat Jif)
Fruit: Bananas (or pineapple, blueberries)
Almond Milk

Start with 7 quart size Freezer Bags and begin with placing your fruit. Place half a banana in each bag or 5 pineapple wedges and a few blueberries. Next add your spinach. I divide the bag of spinach evenly between the 7 freezer bags.

Here is my tip for adding the peanut butter. You want 1 tbsp per smoothie. Smooth the peanut butter onto a spinach leaf.

Then sandwich the peanut butter with a second leaf of spinach. This will keep the peanut butter from sticking to the freezer bag.

Just add 1 scoop of protein powder and you are ready to seal.

Pull your bag from the freezer when you are ready to blend. Add 1 cup of Almond Milk. No need for ice cubes, your frozen mix will keep it cold.

Blend and Enjoy! Pin It
